Fils de cultivateurs.<br /> <br /> Il décède alors qu'il est en train de rédiger son quatrième tome du cartulaire de Valmagne.<br /> <br /> Bachelier, il fut ordonné en 1913, il exerça son ministère de Ganges à Montpellier, du Vignogoul à Saint-Jean de Cuculles, de Notre-Dame des Champs à Saint-Bauzille de la Sylve, du cours Saint-Jean à Béziers à Cessenon, enfin de Notre-Dame de Grâces à Gignac au Refuge de Montpellier.<br /> Assidu et zélé à son ministère, il se consacra également avec rigueur à la recherche historique : histoire diocésaine, histoire des visites pastorales, des églises, du clergé, des abbayes, monographies communales, analyses de cartulaires, articles, ...<br /> <br /> Suite aux séquelles de la grippe espagnole, il doit quitter son ministère à Saint-Mathieu à Montpellier pour devenir aumônier du Vignogoul. Il y restera quatre ans.<br /> Aumônier du cours Saint-Jean et du couvent des soeurs du Sacré-Coeur de Béziers en 1935.<br /> Il laissa plus de 80 ouvrages dont :<br /> <br /> * Histoire de Cessenon-sur-Orb<br /> * L'abbaye du Vignogoul, 1937<br /> * Souvenirs (manuscrit)<br /> <br /> Viranel en publia la liste.</div>
